From Bible Study in the Barbershop to a thriving Church
The journey of Kingdom of God Empowerment Center (KGEC) began with a divine stirring. While faithfully serving in ministry, Dr. Charmia Martin started to sense an unrest in her spirit—an undeniable pull toward something greater. In that moment of seeking, God gave Apostle T.Q. Martin a word that would change everything: “Are you called, or are you waiting for man to give you a platform?”
That question became a turning point. It was clear that God was not only shifting their season but also awakening the gifts He had placed within them. Together, they recognized the call to expand the Kingdom of God—not by waiting for permission, but by moving in obedience.
From that revelation, they launched a Bible study right where they were—inside a barbershop. In January 2019, what started as a humble gathering of hungry hearts quickly grew. By August 1, 2019, they held their first Bible study inside a dedicated building. Then, on September 11, 2019, KGEC held its very first Sunday service.
The date—9/11—was more than coincidence. It was prophetic. A divine 911, marking an urgent call from Heaven for KGEC to arise and manifest God’s purpose in the earth. What began with a step of faith has now become a thriving movement of empowerment, healing, and kingdom advancement.

Expanding the vision...
Our Outreach Ministry is going into the community to reach God’s people who are not willing to come to the building. It’s about going outside the four walls of the church and making an impact on the city. Jesus did most of his works as he traveled among the people. Outreach is God's way of showing His people that He is willing to meet them where they are if they don’t come to Him. Jesus instructed his disciples how to pray, preach and teach the gospel. Outreach is also about giving back to the community what God has given to us. Galatians 5:22 talks about the fruits of the spirit and walking in the spirit. God is calling us to have the fruits of the spirit which are love, joy, peace, long-suffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. We must evangelize together representing the full body of Christ because where one person lacks in one of these fruits, another person can help keep them accountable. That is why Outreach is an assignment for everyone in the body of Christ.
Where we are headed...
We desire to spread the Gospel to the masses because as we draw closer to God, others will see Him in us and He will draw them ( James 4:8). We trust in God to help strategize the mission and vision of KGEC (Proverbs 3:5-6). We Love God, Win Souls, and Make Disciples, so we can Reveal Identity, Restore Unity, and Reclaim Authority. God has instilled in us we have the Power to Prevail over all things because we can do all things through Christ that strengthens us (Philippians 4:13). We know that there is nothing too hard for God and it is evident in our lives. Greater is He that is in us than he that is in the world (1 John 4:4). In this ministry, we love God and people for real for God is love and it' s evident in our actions and what we speak (1 John 4:8, 16).
